O Metallica fez raros shows acústicos na edição 2007 do Bridge School Benefit, promovido por Neil Young. O já tradicional festival utilizado para levantar fundos para a escola para crianças com necessidades especiais de Peggy Young, mulher de Neil, aconteceu nos dias 27 e 28 de outubro, em Mountain View, Califórnia. Não tem choro nem vela: tocou no Bridge School Festival, tocou desplugado. Além ! do Metallica, quem mais tocou por lá neste ano foi Tom Waits, John Mayers e uma banda formada por Eddie Vedder, do Pearl Jam, nos vocais, Flea do Red Hot Chili Peppers no baixo e Jack Irons (ex-Red Hot e Pearl Jam) na bateria.
